INDIA @ 458/4
Cheteshwar Pujara scored his second double hundred as Indian batsmen continued their run feast against Australia on the third day of the second cricketTest, in Hyderabad on Monday. The Pujara-Murali Vijay duo punished the lacklustre Australian attack as India went into lunch at a score of 400 for three with their first innings lead swelling upto 163.
During Pujara and Vijay's marathon partnership, there were a few records that tumbled. Pujara-Vijay duo also eclipsed the 34-year-old second
wicket partnership record of 344 runs set by Sunil Gavaskar (182) and Dilip Vengsarkar (157) against the West Indies at Kolkata in 1978.
Pujara reached his double ton, when he came down the track to whip Glenn Maxwell to the mid-wicket boundary. The Australian bowlers lacked penetration to cause any damage whatsoever as not even once Pujara and Vijay looked liked getting out.
The pair was unlucky that they couldn't break the VVS Laxman-Rahul Dravid record partnership of 376 runs (for any wicket) against Australia at the Eden Gardens by seven runs.
